Training Services Division Conference Department Each year, Workers Assistance Program's Conferences Department, in conjunction with PAL® Services, hosts two statewide conferences for students involved in PAL® and other peer helping programs for student leaders. Our annual PAL® Leadership Conference for Middle School PALs and Peer Helpers takes place in the fall and is an all day conference celebrating and enhancing the experience of being a PAL®. The annual PAL® Leadership Conference for High School PALs and Peer Helpers is a two-day event that takes place early each winter (January-February). It is a time when high school peer helpers and their sponsors can come together to share their experiences, learn new peer helping skills, and have a great time. Both conferences give students the opportunity to attend a variety of workshops that enhance and strengthen their peer helping skills. Sponsors can choose workshops from many topics such as the latest research information regarding peer helping, substance abuse prevention, and curbing school violence. The students also meet in family groups in which they enact new leadership skills and share information with other peer helpers from around the state.
